What A Wall Entertainment Center Adds To Your Great Room
At Sean’s Cabinetry, we receive a lot of requests for kitchens and bathroom vanities. Those spaces will always be a big part of what we do. However, some families come to us looking for something a little different, pieces that shape how they actually live in their homes.
Today, we are talking about one of those projects. A custom wall entertainment center designed to bring function, storage, and craftsmanship together in a space the whole family uses every day. From thoughtful proportions to custom details, this project shows how custom cabinetry can go far beyond the kitchen and become a true focal point of the home.
1. A Wall Entertainment Center: Room’s Focal Point
You may have seen some of our recent projects where we wrapped custom cabinetry around fireplaces. Whether symmetrical or asymmetrical, those designs create stunning focal points and add both character and function to a great room.
However, a fireplace is not always an option. In many homes, a wall entertainment center becomes a beautiful and practical solution. It creates a strong visual anchor, adds meaningful storage, and elevates the space without requiring a full-scale remodel. You get the look and impact of a built-in feature while keeping the project efficient.
In this case, our clients wanted a wall entertainment center that felt intentional, balanced, and highly functional for everyday family life. We crafted a symmetrical layout with open shelving above custom cabinetry, using drawers to maximize storage while keeping the upper portion of the wall open so the space still feels light and inviting. This project was built using frameless cabinetry construction, allowing for clean lines and efficient interior storage.
Every custom project comes with its own set of challenges, and this one required thoughtful problem solving. A vent was located inside the cabinet run, so we carefully notched around it while maintaining a seamless finished look. On each end of the wall entertainment center, we incorporated closed cabinetry with adjustable interior shelves, creating flexible storage for games and everyday essentials.
The result is a living room with ample storage, that maintains visual openness, and cabinetry that becomes a beautiful focal point.
2. White Oak Floating Shelf and Greenblack Cabinetry
One of the standout details in this living room is the white oak floating shelf paired with cabinetry painted in Sherwin-Williams’ SW 6994 Greenblack. The warmth of the white oak adds great contrast, while the floating detail keeps the design feeling open and not heavy.
We often hear homeowners reference popular dark paint colors like Iron Ore SW 7069, a deep charcoal black with a softer appearance, or Tricorn Black SW 6258, which is considered a true black with virtually no undertones. Both are wonderful and widely used. However, Greenblack offers something a little more unexpected. Its subtle green undertone gives it depth and personality, especially when used on cabinetry.
In this space, Greenblack creates a striking statement without overpowering the room. It pairs beautifully with the warmth of the white oak floating shelf and really comes to life alongside gold hardware. The result feels bold, custom, and elevated, yet still approachable for everyday living.
3. Storage and Function Built Into the Design
Beyond aesthetics, this entertainment wall was designed to function hard for everyday living. Cable management was fully integrated into the cabinetry, allowing all wiring, cords, and components to remain hidden while still being easily accessible. This keeps the wall clean and uncluttered, even with multiple devices in use.
Storage was another major advantage of this layout. Closed cabinetry on each end provides dedicated space for games and miscellaneous items that would otherwise live out in the open. Inside the cabinets, adjustable shelving allows the storage to evolve as needs change over time.
Keeping the upper portion of the wall open was a deliberate choice. It prevents the cabinetry from visually closing in the room while still delivering the storage families need. The result is a wall that feels balanced, functional, and well considered.
Custom cabinetry from Sean’s Cabinetry allows solutions like this to be tailored precisely to the home, the layout, and the way the space is actually used.
4. Crafted With Intention by Sean’s Cabinetry
Every project we take on starts with the same goal. We want to transform the space we are working with and arrive at the best possible outcome for the home and the people living in it.
Custom cabinetry is a powerful solution, but more is not always better. The challenge is creating storage and function without overwhelming the room. In this project, that meant balancing closed cabinetry with open areas, working within existing conditions, and designing a layout that feels intentional rather than heavy.
At Sean’s Cabinetry, we focus on solutions that elevate a space while respecting it. When cabinetry is thoughtfully designed, it does more than fill a wall. It brings order, purpose, and clarity to how a room is used every day.
